A concrete or gunite spa is the most flexible choice. Because it is built in place, we can use complex shapes to create almost any design you have in mind, and add as many features as you want — extra jets, custom seating, a foot massager, spillovers, and more. It is the route most of our clients take for a fully integrated, built-in look.
Fiberglass spas are a popular alternative. They come in set shapes and sizes that are easy to picture in a drawing or blueprint, and they install relatively quickly. We will walk you through the trade-offs and recommend the approach that fits your pool, yard, and budget.

Spa vs. hot tub: what is the difference?
In the U.S. the terms are often used interchangeably, but there is a distinction. A spa is more permanent — built into the ground and frequently attached to a swimming pool — and is designed around hydrotherapy. An in-ground spa is essentially a custom hot tub set in the ground, on its own or alongside a pool, equipped with strong jets that mix air and water for a massaging soak.
A hot tub is usually a free-standing structure, large or small, with powerful jets, and it is not built into the ground or attached to a pool. As a planning guide, a spa is commonly added during a pool remodel as part of a mid-to-upper feature tier that typically runs $15,000 to $30,000 for the added features and finishes. On a new custom pool or luxury pool build, a spa is usually part of a project in the $38,000 to $60,000+ range, with the higher end reflecting a pool that includes a spa and premium features.
