Some concrete is too far gone to resurface. When a slab is heaving, sunken, or broken, we tear it out, fix what caused the failure, and pour new concrete the right way.
Resurfacing is the right answer for most tired concrete, but not all of it. Slabs that have heaved from soil movement, sunk from washed-out soil, or broken into pieces need to be replaced. A new pour is also the time to fix the underlying problems: grading and drainage, soil compaction, reinforcement, and properly placed expansion joints, so the new concrete doesn’t fail the same way.
When to replace instead of resurface
Replace if the slab has large vertical offsets, has sunk or heaved, is broken into sections, or drains toward the house or pool.
Resurface if the slab is level and solid but ugly: stained, surface-cracked, or dated. See pool deck resurfacing.
We’ll give you an honest recommendation after inspecting it. Replacing concrete that could have been resurfaced wastes money; resurfacing concrete that should be replaced wastes it faster.

ooncrete fails for reasons: poor compaction, no reinforcement, bad drainage, or joints in the wrong places. We address each one on the new pour. Around pools, the deck is sloped away from the water and a proper expansion joint is set at the coping.
Want more than plain concrete? eew slabs can be finished with acrylic flagstone, Spanish lace, or replaced with pavers or travertine.
